It’s important that your website is showing up at the top of the first page of Google when local people search for landscaping or lawn care companies.

If you aren’t, then you are losing leads and customers to competing businesses that are at the top of Google.

Most advertising reaches people when they aren’t in need.

But search engines reach people at the exact moment when they are searching for what you offer.

There are 3 spots where you can show up for a search:

  1. Paid Ads
  2. Local Ranking
  3. Organic or Natural Rankings

Each spot needs a different strategy to show up at the top.

Paid Ads

You can pay to have your ads show up for any searches you want, here is an example:

Google Paid Ad

The advantage is you can start showing up the same day, and you only pay for clicks, not views.

The disadvantage is you can waste a lot of money if you don’t set up your campaigns correctly or optimize them.

Local Rankings

The local map rankings are another important area to show up on for Google searches, here is an example:

Google Local Map Search Results

You will generally only show up here for your local area.

You can increase you local map rankings by:

  • Claiming and verifying your free Google My Business listing
  • Put your business name, address, and phone number at the bottom of every page on your website.
  • Make sure you have the same business Name, Address, and Phone number on local directory listings (also known as consistent NAP).
  • Get reviews on Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc.
  • Have your address and a map on your contact page.

Organic or Natural Rankings

These results aren’t for sale, there isn’t anything you can pay to influence these results, here is an example of how they currently look:

Google Natural Organic Search Results

You can improve your organic search results in two main areas:

  1. On your website
  2. Off your website

There are many factors that Google uses to determine the rankings, and many of these aren’t publicly known except by Google. There are in fact, over 200 signals that Google looks at, on and off your website, to determine the rankings.

Your focus should be on creating and publishing content related to your business, and how you help your clients solve their problems.

It’s the most important thing a business can focus on to provide the raw material that gets optimized for search engine results.

Search Engine Domination

The ultimate goal is not just to get your website to the top of the first page on Google for searches relating to your business and services…

The goal is to totally dominate the search results with multiple listings.

This takes some work but is very effective.

Imagine typing in “your city landscaping” or “your city lawn care” and seeing multiple results for your business, such as:

  • Your website
  • Your Facebook page
  • Your YouTube channel
  • A couple videos
  • A couple directory listings

The more you show up, the more competing businesses you push off the first page!
